Another Boeing 787 had to make an emergency landing on Wednesday, prompting two Japanese airlines to ground their Dreamliner fleets, according to reports.
An All Nippon Airways Co. flight made the emergency landing due to the smell of smoke on the plane and a battery-fault warning, Bloomberg reports. ANA and Japan Airlines Co. subsequently grounded 24 Dreamliners ? almost half of the world?s Dreamliners in operation ? through Jan. 17, Bloomberg reports.
The Wall Street Journal reported that ANA said the cause of the smoke smell is undetermined.
Last week, the Federal Aviation Administration said it would review the Chicago-based Boeing Co.?s (NYSE: BA) aircraft. Various airlines have experienced issues with an electrical fire, a fuel leak and a computer board error on Dreamliner aircraft.
United Continental Holdings Inc. (NYSE: UAL), which has a major hub in Houston, has six Dreamliners in operation. The Chicago-based company has ordered 50 Dreamliners, all of which will be inducted into its fleet in Houston.
United Airlines is among the carriers that continue to fly the Dreamliners as scheduled on Wednesday, Bloomberg reports. A United spokeswoman told the Houston Business Journal last week that the airline continues to work with Boeing on the aircraft?s reliability.
Will the recent issues with the Boeing Dreamliner deter you from flying on it?
